Volunteering Opportunity with Greenscape

 

Aims of this Opportunity: To assist in a range of grounds maintenance tasks.

Estimated hours: 4 – 21 hours per week.

Worksite: Various Outdoor Sites

Description of the activities you will experience:

Carry out a range of grounds maintenance tasks e.g. grass cutting, raking, edging, weeding, sweeping, litter picking, chemical application etc. including use of hand held equipment to maintain parks and open spaces to the required standards. Adhere to Health and Safety regulations including appropriate use of equipment also ensuring it is well maintained, kept clean and not exposed to the risk of damage or loss/theft. Complete documents relating to the role of the post e.g. daily work records, equipment defect reporting, etc

LEAP Volunteering Opportunity: Reading Mentor

 

Aims of this Opportunity: To support non reading adults to learn to read.

Estimated hours: Minimum 1.5 hours per week up to 4.5 hours per week

Worksite: The LEAP Centre and approved community venues.

 

Description of the activities you will experience:

Meet and greet service users. Introduce service users to the reading programme. Support and inspire service users to follow the programme and improve their reading skills, through intense one to one mentoring and support. Record contacts with service users and report outcomes. Personal Skills and Qualities required. To be a confident reader and be able to demonstrate these skills to others.

LEAP Volunteering Opportunity: Buddy

We are recruiting buddies who can volunteer a morning or afternoon a week for up to 3 months (depending on support required), working with people supporting them into social and community activities. This is a perfect way to spend your spare time, meeting new people and empowering others through building confidence and self-esteem in turn reducing loneliness and isolation.
