Removing Barriers

BLOOM is open to adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities and those with long term mental health needs. It provides social and communication opportunities through a range of inclusive activities which encourage new friendships and connections.

Person Centred

The project provides the opportunity to explore and pursue interests as well as discovering skills and abilities such as planning and design, growing, garden maintenance, woodwork, craft and cooking. There are also opportunities for associates to gain skills and confidence by participating in real work experiences of gardening and landscaping across the community, under the guidance and support of Greenscape staff. No previous gardening experience is needed, just a pair of wellies and a willingness to spend time outdoors.

Health & Wellbeing

As well as helping to develop new skills and confidence, eco or horticultural therapy is a great way to enhance wellbeing, both physically and mentally.

Health benefits include;

•             Better physical health through exercise.

•             Regular energetic horticultural activities provide the same positive health benefits as jogging or swimming.

•             Improved mental health through a sense of purpose and achievement.

•             Horticulture is interesting and motivating, providing a variety of different tasks to perform as the seasons change.

And after all that exercise and sense of accomplishment...

A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP GUARANTEED FOR ALL!
